The St. Louis crew had another action-packed day, beginning with a visit to the Missouri Historical Society for some investigations on St. Louis women (Mary Todd Lincoln’s lead dress designer- a formerly enslaved seamstress- among them!). We then took a walking tour of the Dutchtown neighborhood (named after the mis-pronounced “Deutsch” immigrants who first established it). Students got a first-hand account and view of a dynamic neighborhood amidst gentrification and were truly off the beaten path of typical tourist sites. After a rest at the hotel, we ate dinner at the iconic Blueberry Hill. The restaurant is full of STL memorabilia (Chuck Berry guitars and Stanley Cup rings). Students had some free time to explore the Loop neighborhood before bedding down after a long and fun day.
