Boston

Day 4
Today, we visited UMass, Boston, on the shore of Boston Harbor. It offers a more rural campus feel located directly on the water, with lower tuition costs, and they are the 3rd most diverse campus in the U.S. Also, this morning, a few of us went up to explore the campus of Tufts University, 20 minutes north of Boston in Cambridge. With about 9,000 undergraduate students, a midsize university focuses on flexibility and inspiring creative thinking and planning. Living on campus for the first two years and just off campus in local New England-style housing, this felt like a comfortable alternative to the near-to-the-city Boston College model. A number of students walked through the Harvard campus and took a self-guided tour of MIT as well.

This afternoon, a brief visit to Quincy Market was followed by some time to explore the surrounding neighborhoods, followed by dinner at the north end for delicious Italian food, including homemade pasta. Tonight, we are packing up our bags, ready to visit the New England Aquarium in the morning, and then return to the hotel to pick up our bags and head to the airport. We are tired and much more savvy about this beautiful city, yet we are looking forward to coming home.
