After nearly two decades of impactful service, George Moore will conclude his Head of School tenure at the end of the 2025–26 school year. The Dawson School stands at a pivotal moment—energized by a clear vision and guided by our enduring mission to cultivate students who think critically, are resilient, and bring their best to the world. As we begin the search for our next Head of School, we do so with confidence and optimism, knowing that the next chapter in Dawson’s story will be one of bold evolution and purposeful growth.

This leadership transition aligns with the initial phase of our Dawson 2030 planning, a forward-looking initiative that will shape the next five years of innovation in teaching and learning, community engagement, and campus development. We seek a leader who will embrace this moment of momentum and help guide Dawson as we deepen our commitment to academic excellence, future-ready learning, and student-centered education.

Search Partner

Throughout the Head of School search process, our search partner, RG175, will help guide and support our community in selecting its next Head of School. As a next step in this process, RG175 will be on site at Dawson to gather community feedback from all of our constituents: parents, faculty, staff, administration, and students. Thomas Hudnut and Deborah Reed will be leading our Head of School search:

Tom Hudnut, former Head of School for 36 years (Harvard Westlake, The Branson School)
Debbie Reed, former Head of School for 19 years (Seven Hills School, Polytechnic)

RG175 has significant Head of School search experience and has placed more than 70 Heads of School. They bring a network of national and international contacts and a wealth of knowledge concerning format, procedure, and best practices on the search process.

Search Committee

It is the duty of the Board of Trustees to find a well-qualified successor to serve as the Head of School. The Board will finalize a Search Committee in the coming weeks, and updates will be communicated. The Search Committee and RG175 will solicit community input directly, and via a survey, regarding the qualifications and qualities that are important for the next Head of School.

In addition to the open session for families with RG175 in April, the Search Committee anticipates assembling parent/guardian and faculty Search Advisory Groups to help inform the search process and include representatives of the entire Dawson School Community.
