Cultural Celebration 2024

The Cultural Celebration is an annual event that celebrates the many cultures, backgrounds, and identities in our community. Students, parents, faculty, and staff prepare and share native foods, items, and pastimes. The theme of this year's event was International Travel.
On the afternoon of April 8th, Dawson held its 2024 Cultural Celebration. This event was hosted in collaboration with Dawson's No Place for Hate (NP4H) Club, a student-led club that engages our community in dialogue and learning around topics of inclusion, bias, and diversity. The Cultural Celebration is an annual event that celebrates the many cultures, backgrounds, and identities in our community. Students, parents, faculty, and staff prepare and share native foods, items, and pastimes.

The theme of this year's event was International Travel. The Dining Commons was turned into an airport where different activity areas were terminals. NP4H members (in pilot hats!) were on hand to greet guests at the arrivals terminal and to hand out passports to child travelers.

Highlights of the event included the food and performances. Each year, dozens of families prepare traditional dishes that you cannot get anywhere else! This year there were also two notable performances. The first was by the Lost Keys, the Upper School Acapella group. The second was a Hawaiian Dance performance led by parent Michelle Yano and Middle School teacher Elizabeth Perez. Students were invited to join for part of this performance, and also had the opportunity to take a Hawaiian dance workshop.
We will see you at the Cultural Celebration in 2025!
